Muhammad's Follow Up

So today is Muhammad's follow up at the Pediatric Institute HKL. It has become a routine to go there every 3 months. Besides we are closely monitoring his progress and of course his health.

The difference today is that he also has to be x rayed to see his upper abdomen part, not just the usual utra sound.
I was wondering how he would behave. Before, he would scream his lungs out no matter how long the scan takes or how interesting the toys that the nurses bring over to his bed to entertain him.
And this happen every time. It was very tiring for us, and him.

Today we did the x ray first. He cried of course, refusing to be put on the hard x ray bed(they purposely put something hard on the bed so patient's body will be straight). Luckily the x ray just took a few minutes and we help the nurse hold him.
After the x ray, we wait our turn for the ultra sound in the next room. When we are called in, surprisingly Muhammad was so willing and didn't cry at all! I'm so thankful to Allah. The doctor did the scan so peacefully and we managed to talk about what we saw on the screen.
Alhamdulillah, everything looks fine. We had earlier nervous about the unknown mass in his left testis but now it simply not something to worry about. The blood test also normal for alpha feta protein and everything was great, for now.

So we'll be seeing the doctor in January next year!

Lady Teachers Take Pictures

Ha ha tacky title...

After the assembly on Monday, we were asked to take pictures for school magazine. So busy with new teachers reporting for first day , I didn't hear the announcement. After briefing them, I went to the canteen for my breakfast.

I noticed the secondary teachers segment of the table is empty except for office employees. Lucky me! Usually right after the assembly it will be crowded.

Towards the end of my breakfast, Amin F4 came running,
'Teacher, photo session at the surau. Everybody's waiting for you'

Ha?
I sipped my tea and grab my bag. Rushing to the surau. How embarrassing. They have to wait for me....
Yep, the only spot blank was mine...As soon as I sat down, the picture of us was taken. A few times.

Then they all rushed to the canteen, hungry...
Someone asked, 'Where were you?'
I smiled trying to say my reasons but,
Burrpp...I'm already full! He he

Sarep, where's the pictures?

Eid!

Bila dah nak sampai, area sebelum Kulai hujan sangat2 lebat.

Sebab my stepmother is not well, suffered acute gastric, badan kurus kering dengan mengejut...
Sikit2 saya tolong kemas and get rid of barang makan yang dah expire...
I think she also suffer early signs of Alzheimer....poor abah....as he has to endure all this at his age...looking after her.

I don't have the appetite to eat much because kinda tired of the long drive and cooking.(Husband still cannot drive because of his dyplopia). Got to solat raya kat Masjid Gelang Patah. Ramai memang ramai tapi kebanyakan jemaah lelaki. Yang perempuan cuma 31 orang je ( ye, I did count sebab terkejut tengok sikit sangat). Udah le macam tercampak dalam dungeon. Jemaah perempuan di suruh solat kat bawah masjid terperuk macam hendak tak hendak je nak suruh solat...Tapi I like the space and emptiness sebab tak le berpeluh2 solat raya macam selalu...kusyu' jugak la...and Muhammad sangat2 baik, duduk diam je...sebab ngantuk kot, kena paksa bangun pakai baju melayu..

Then raya kedua belah petang balik KL lepas masak mee hoon 2 kuali. Kot2 ada tetamu datang senang sket derang...

So now I'm in KL, esok akan ke Pahang pulak. Lega dah basuh baju!

Nanti la upload gambo Raya....

Tom Yam Toll

From the Star :

Wednesday September 9, 2009

PETALING JAYA:

The lorry came to a halt on the road shoulder outside the tomyam restaurant. The driver stepped out and walked in.

A woman at the shop approached him to take the order — but she wasn’t talking about food.
“Tell me, from where to where, the type of the vehicle, the time and date of your travel,” she asked.
The Serasi Tomyam Seafood restaurant sells fake toll receipts for a nominal fee.
The wooden seafood restaurant, near Simpang Renggam, located right between Kulai Jaya and Kluang districts, is a well-known rest and recreation (R&R) spot for heavy vehicle drivers - and is one of the most popular “hotspots” that sells fake toll receipts.
Lorry operators, government agencies and private firms are being duped daily in this multi-million ringgit toll scam.
Starprobe has uncovered an organised syndicate that uses nondescript locations such as food outlets and houses as bases to sell fake toll receipts, which are identical to the original ones obtained from toll booths.
Rest and receipt area: A lorry is seen parked by the side of the seafood restaurant which also serves as front for a scam where receipts identical to those issued at PLUS toll booths can be bought.
They have the PLUS corporate logo against the white background as well as the details such as time, date, entry and exit points and the correct toll charges.
These can be used to make fake claims — as high as RM250 for travel up and down the length of the North-South Expressway.
For a small fee, errant drivers of tankers, trailers and lorries can make claims for toll charges using the fake receipts even though they only used trunk roads.
Drivers on official duty outstation are also taking advantage of this to cheat their employers.
Motorists need to pay only RM4 for a fake PLUS receipt while the charge for heavy vehicles is only RM5.
This means claimants make a handsome profit - a heavy vehicle driver who travels from Ipoh to Sedenak, Johor, can claim RM269.60 for the two-way journey when he actually spent only RM10 for two fake receipts. Likewise, a motorist who travels from Jalan Duta to Skudai, Johor, can claim RM94 for two ways although he spent only RM8 on two fake receipts.
The transaction in the fake receipts is discreet and many heavy vehicle drivers know where the hotspots are.
The fake and genuine receipts look the same.
Starprobe found out that the fake toll receipts are sold at several strategic towns including Dengkil in Selangor, Simpang Renggam in Johor and Karak, Pahang.
To avoid getting caught, the receipts are also sold via bookings made through the telephone. Those who place their “orders” this way can also have the receipts hand-delivered to them at strategic locations.
The Serasi Tomyam Seafood restaurant operates 24 hours and receipts are sold at all times except on Sundays. At least 10 vehicles are parked around the outlet at any one time.
My Note:
How many people do almost the same for petrol claims and so on? I witnessed the scam before at petrol stations where they rounded up their petrol bill with the help of the cashier... If you are a muslim, shame on you....This is clearly haram money that goes to your blood. Wonder why many people are so scared of even smell the pig meat or just the sight of it while at the same time, taking duit haram like this....I feel like throwing up...but then I must control myself. Otherwise I'll ruin my fasting.

Ramadhan and Al Quran

I'm grateful to Allah that we, the whole family khatam the Quran Tadarus yesterday. This has been our goal this Ramadhan as we didn't get the chance to khatam during Ramadhan Tadarus in the past, alhamdulillah. Thanks to Allah that the beginning of Ramadhan falls on the school holiday. We got to read 2 juzuk every day for a week.

And this morning we start again the reading from the beginning.

Tadarus has been wonderful. It's the only time that when you read the quran, your children corrected you when you make mistakes and the other way around. We didn't promise the children any form of reward. Just hoping Allah will reward us handsomely in the hereafter.
The Quran was brought down to earth and has brought many changes to human life, including replacing barbaric and deviant customs with civilised and honourable ones.

A gift from Allah (SWT) for His subjects, the Quran is means to act as a guide for Muslims.

The Quran's holiness cannot be doubted, as Allah (SWT) gave His promise that the purity of the Quran will always be protected until Kiamat, or the Day of Judgement.

No one, be it jin or human, can challenge the supremacy of the Quran, and no alterations or additions can be made to it.

As Muslims we must familiarise ourselves with the Quran, as reading it is a very noble endeavour, especially during this holy month of Ramadhan.
Even those who merely listen to its verses being read can also reap rewards and blessings. Whenever the Quran is being read, during competitions, tadarus or even khatam al-Quran, one should listen intently to appreciate and understand what is being read.

Doing this is considered by Allah (SWT) as an act of worship that shall be rewarded, insyaAllah. And I want my children to know and understand this and grab this opportunity whenever they can.

This has been and will be a tradition in our house, hopefully for many years to come, and until the children have their own family and will do the same and will make sure their children understand this just like they do, insyaallah.

O Allah, ...please don't let Ramadhan end too soon cause we'll be missing it for sure.

Kinda long weekend...surprise, surprise...

What a wonderful weekend...even when I'm writing this, it's not over yet as we still have tomorrow, to wake up late after fajr prayer and tadarus. Isn't that nice... I wish it would rain tomorrow morning to top it all off, hi hi..

On Friday evening we went to Palace of Golden Horses for iftar. That was great...My sis invited us the whole family to join them for iftar..She did the same last year but I and Muhammad were kind of stuck in Selayang Hosp while the rest went. This time, we all got to go...
The food was scrumptious, so many to choose from that I was confused. I decided to eat the grilled lamb and its trimmings...yum yum. After the dinner off we went to search for the 'steel mosque' near the Perbadanan Putrajaya for tarawikh. Nice mosque, with no walls, and water all around and huge...Heard that it cost 180 million ringgos as it is 70% steel.

On Saturday morning, I had my JIM women's district meeting, presented my part as the secreatary and was reelected for another term. This is my dakwah, may be till my last breath.
In the evening, my brother in law invited us for iftar...we had very nice nasi tomato...

And so today, even though not able to attend the district meeting, I have some relatives coming over, and I clean the house with the help of Sidah and still enjoying myself to bliss....

....and why on earth did I forget to take pictures of the things I mentioned above?
Hope the kids Pak Su will get better soon...

Ramblings About Something

'Ke hadapan bonda yang diingati,

Semoga sihat selalu.

He he, macam tu la saya tulis surat kat mak abah masa sekolah dulu di mrsm. Cuba kalau kita cakap kat anak2 kita sekarang kita dulu dulu tulis macam tu...mesti dia orang gelak2 guling2 kan....

Dengan sms, mms, etc semuanya laju, ringkas, cepat, straight to the point.

Macam waktu mengajar dalam kelas English, bila saya ajar buat formal letter about booking rooms at a resort, ramai dalam kelas tanya:

'Bila nak guna surat macam ni teacher?

'Buat apa susah susah tulis formal letter, teacher? Kan call je boleh'

So kena lah teacher (yang pandai cari jawapan) jawab:

'Anggap ni formal letter dalam e mel' or,

' Resort ni jauh dekat pulau tak de access fone etc, bla bla' (muka dia orang semua cam tak percaya apa teacher cakap) or,

'Buat je la, kot keluar dalam exam'(bila dah tak de idea)

So,

anak saya kalau duduk kat asrama mungkin akan text message saya:

'Mak ok? Duit abis dah la...mak bank in malam ni boleh tak? maybank2u...bye mak, sayang mak'

Hmm
